Increase the safety of travelers – SOS panel

What is the most common threat to travelers? According to police data – thefts, fights, robberies and extortion. The DYSTEN team asked themselves the question: How to increase passenger safety in public transport? What can we do to reduce the risk of an attack, robbery or accident at stations and bus stops? This is how a new product was created – the SOS panel.

SOS panel – two-way communication

When ensuring the safety of passengers in public transport, it is worth considering the use of modern technologies. An example of such a solution is a two-way voice communication system between the passenger and the operator in the security center.

The passenger can call for help or report a dangerous situation at any time by using the SOS button. The operator, hearing the notification and seeing the location of the event on the monitor screen, can react immediately. Using the SOS desktop, a conversation is possible between the passenger and the dispatcher, who will be able to provide the traveler with instructions on what to do in a crisis situation.

The two-way communication panel is equipped with an SOS button, a microphone and a loudspeaker. Additionally, the camera installed in the device allows you to view the scene of the incident and control the current situation. The description of the button in Braille is a facility that allows blind people to call for help. The device has an automatic volume adjustment function to the level of background noise – so even a passing train will not drown out the conversation.

In order to increase the level of safety on platforms, the Warsaw Commuter Railway used a two-way communication system by installing an SOS panel in the supporting structures of over 100 passenger information displays. We carried out the work as part of the project “Development of the public passenger transport system in the Warsaw agglomeration by increasing the efficiency, reliability and safety of the Warsaw Commuter Railway”. The device can be used both at stations, in transfer centers, at stops, platforms and in vehicles – trains, trams and subways.
