Road investments in Dąbrowa Górnicza
Road investments in Dąbrowa Górnicza – friendly to the environment and people
Several road investments important for residents and the environment have been completed in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland.
One of them is the reconstruction of the Gołonóg station along with the road system and a new interchange. The project included building a road tunnel and an underground passage. The platforms and the track system were also rebuilt and modernized. As a result, it is easier for residents to move between districts separated by the tracks. The new viaduct enhances the safety of both drivers and pedestrians. Additionally, residents who use public transport now have easier access to railway crossings.
The second road investment is the construction of an interchange center and the reconstruction of the road system in the city center. The project was a joint venture carried out by the city of Dąbrowa Górnicza and PKP PLK S.A. The project included building parking lots, road tunnels, underground passages leading to car parks and platforms, and a transfer center. Additionally, the Dąbrowa Górnicza Centrum station was renovated and its infrastructure (including platforms and tracks) was rebuilt. The new solutions have changed the urban landscape and made moving around the city easier. The advantages of the projects have been experienced by all, including drivers, public transport passengers, pedestrians, and cyclists. The train-bus transfer center has been a convenient option for commuters, while the drivers can now use the streets that allow them to avoid the center and save time.
Dąbrowa Górnicza has improved the range of transportation options, while reducing traffic congestion and increasing safety of travel for its residents.

Road investments and Dysten passenger information in public transport
Passenger information plays a crucial role in the success of public transport. By providing accurate and up-to-date information, travelers are more likely to choose public transport or rail services. Furthermore, reliable passenger information not only enhances the quality of public transport but also makes it more appealing to the commuters. This is especially important when it comes to the European Union’s efforts to lower CO2 emissions, as increased use of public transport instead of private cars helps to reduce environmental pollution.
The main task of the PKP PLK Dynamic Passenger Information System is to facilitate travelers’ access to the services offered by the Polish railway. In case of Dąbrowa Górnicza Centrum and Gołonóg stations, all system elements cooperate with the Central Dynamic Passenger Information System of PKP PLK. In this way, the passenger is informed about the upcoming, real-time departures of trains and possible route changes.
Passengers rely on the information provided on the stop boards at the Transfer Center in Dąbrowa Górnicza. These boards display essential details such as line number, direction of travel, and estimated time of arrival of the bus. The displays cooperate with the on-board devices in the vehicles and the management center of the dynamic information system of the GZM Metropolis. For the convenience of visually impaired commuters, the electronic boards come equipped with a button that can be pressed to activate an audio reading of the information displayed on the boards.
